This year, our team traveled to China for the 6th time to promote international business in Kansas City. We met with many groups including the Changsha Federation for Industry and Commerce. While we have met with this group in the past, they had not previously brought such a large and high level group of business, government, and social leaders. In attendance were three city council members from Changsha, the Vice President of Foreign Affairs Office for Hunan Province, leaders of many businesses, and the Executive Directors of several organizations, including the Changsha High Tech Park. This High Tech Park is a $300 million cooperative effort between the governments of Changsha, Hunan Province, and the National Government to promote entrepreneurship in China and to support startups and high-tech companies in Changsha.
This meeting resulted in invitations for decision makers from Kansas City to join Changsha leaders and formalize cooperative agreements between our two cities. Additionally, UMKC Enactus was offered the opportunity to find three Kansas City companies that would be interested in expanding their market in China. These three companies will have the support of the Changsha government and free office space for three years in the Changsha High Tech Park!
Our Enactus students continue to impress. In recognition of their efforts, our team was recently recognized by the Kansas City, Missouri City Council. This is another huge honor that this team can enjoy.
